The maintenance requires specialized technical expertise, dedicated tooling, and access to the manufacturer's original design documentation and intellectual property rights, which no other party possesses. Spare parts, including the harmonic filter capacitors, must conform to the original GE Vernova design specifications to ensure compatibility and system reliability. For technical reasons, the works can therefore only be performed by this particular supplier, and no known competition exist. The procurement is necessary to maintain the operational reliability of the vessel for the coming years. Preventive maintenance of the electric propulsion system of the research vessel Árni Friðriksson during the 2026. The procurement covers: Maintenance of the converters (SD7000), transformers, propulsion motors, and switchboard, together with associated spare parts (coin cell batteries, fan capacitors, earth brushes). The scope should include manpower, engineering, project and fleet management, mobilization/demobilization, travel and reporting.
